Why WILDHOM Chooses Not to Rely on Social Media

Why WILDHOM Chooses Not to Rely on Social Media

THE PROBLEM WITH CONSTANT DIGITAL CONNECTION

We live in an age of constant connection. News updates flash across our screens by the minute. Opinions, trends, and glimpses into strangers’ lives fill our feeds. We scroll, we react, we consume – often without realizing how fragmented our attention has become. And somewhere along the way, we lose focus.

For me, that’s where this story begins.

HOW WILDHOM'S STORY BEGINS

When I started WILDHOM, I knew I didn’t want to rely (soley) on social media to grow our community or share our story. It’s not because I’m opposed to technology or connection – far from it. It’s because social media, as it exists today, doesn’t align with the values that WILDHOM is built on: intention, authenticity, and a deeper kind of connection.

At WILDHOM, we believe that true connection shouldn’t come at the cost of our peace of mind. As a brand rooted in intentionality, slow living, and in-person connections, I made a conscious choice to grow differently – without the noise or pressure of social media.

WHY WE AREN'T RELYING ON SOCIAL MEDIA TO GROW

I was never been an early adopter of social media, and while this decision may present challenges for a new brand like WILDHOM, I’ve always preferred real experiences over digital ones – the kind of connection that happens when you’re sitting across from someone, sharing a story or a meal, or collaborating to bring an idea to life. I deeply believe in – and stand behind – building this brand from the ground up.

THE PANIC OF A SOCIAL STRATEGY VS THE JOY OF REAL CONNECTION

When I tried to imagine creating a “social media strategy,” I actually felt a wave of panic. But when I envisioned growing WILDHOM through word of mouth, through real conversations and in-person connections, through listening to people’s stories to help shape our brand – I felt alive. I felt inspired. I felt joy. I want real conversations, not algorithmic ones.

That desire for genuine connection is at the heart of WILDHOM. I’d rather we build relationships slowly – through word of mouth, shared experiences, and meaningful partnerships – than chase likes or followers. When I discover a brand I love, it’s almost always because someone I trust recommended it, not because it appeared in a curated feed. I want our WILDHOM community to find us the same way: organically, intentionally, and with purpose.

Stepping away from relying soley on social media is also an act of reclamation – of time, attention, and authenticity. The modern algorithm thrives on distraction. It decides what we see, shaping what we think we care about. But I believe your attention is sacred. I’d rather you spend it on things that nourish you – a quiet morning at home, a meaningful conversation with someone you love, or a moment of beauty that reminds you to breathe.

PROTECTING ATTENTION IN AN ALGORITHM-DRIVEN WORLD

Instead of chasing trends, we're focused on creating lasting value. WILDHOM’s Journal will be a space for thoughtful, relevant, and inspiring content – reflections on luxurious slow living, stories of our Women Artisans, insights into sustainable design, and ways to bring more intention into your home and your life. My hope is that when you come here, it feels nourishing, thoughtful, and worth your time.

We’re a small team, and that’s something I cherish. It allows us to create with care – to focus our energy on the work itself rather than the noise surrounding it. By owning our content and choosing where and how we show up, we’re preserving the integrity of our message – and protecting both our time and the wellbeing of our team and community.

AN INVITATION TO SLOW LIVING AND TRUE CONNECTION

Will WILDHOM ever be active on social media? Sure, but it won't be our main source of connection. For now, we’re choosing to grow differently – through real, in person connections, shared values, and experiences that happen beyond the screen.

WILDHOM’s goal is to help us reconnect – with our homes, our loved ones, and ourselves. In a world that's constantly moving, I invite you to slow down and bring your attention back to what truly matters.

Because connection – the real kind – doesn’t need a Wi-Fi signal.
