Where the Wild Meets Home: The Story Behind WILDHOM

Where the Wild Meets Home: The Story Behind WILDHOM

THE MEANING OF HOME

For me, home has always been sacred.

Both a physical place and something we carry within us, home is where I return when the world feels too loud — the space where I come back to my center and remember who I am. It’s my refuge, where I can be wildly me, moving between silence and laughter, stillness and creation.

WHEN TRADITIONAL SUCCESS ISN'T ENOUGH

But for years, I lived in a way that pulled me away from that inner knowing we all carry inside.

I often traveled the world to escape the life I’d built — but also to find myself while immersed in new cultures. My career was impressive on paper: nearly two decades in leadership roles, working for prestigious federal government agencies, including the White House, Homeland Security, and Veterans Affairs. I had the titles, the salary, the stability. I earned several degrees — an Associate’s, a Bachelor’s, and a Master’s — and later my Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. By all measures, I led, built, and succeeded in every traditional sense of the word.

And yet, something was missing.

Inside, I felt untethered. My work looked powerful but didn’t feel powerful. I was creating results, but not meaning. Despite my “success,” I longed for a deeper connection — to myself, to others, to the Earth, and to work that inspired me.

CREATING WORK I WANT TO BELIEVE IN

Then life, in all its wisdom, began stripping away what no longer fit. I was laid off from my six-figure position, and in a bold (some might say “crazy”) act of defiance, I turned down three high six-figure offers that didn’t align with my values or the kind of work I wanted to put into the world.

I finally allowed myself to listen to that quiet voice within: What if there’s another way?

That question — along with a months-long senior leadership fellows program I’d completed earlier in the year that emphasized the importance of values-driven companies — became the catalyst for WILDHOM. I could no longer work for organizations that didn’t align with my values. I didn’t see the kind of role that honored my background, experience, and passions or the company I wanted to be part of — one that inspires and nourishes rather than depletes us; that values people over production; that makes space for stillness, intention, and connection.

So I decided to create it.

THE LAND THAT OPENED MY HEART

Just before I was laid off, and only a few weeks after completing the fellows program, I found myself in Guatemala volunteering with the non-profit WellKind. It was there that everything came together.

What I found was more than service — it was a homecoming.

I’ve traveled to more than 30 countries around the world, but few places have captured my heart the way Guatemala has. Its culture, its people, its landscape — every part of it feels alive. From the lush green hills and mountains pushing into the sky to the vivid textiles crafted by women selling their handmade creations with sleeping babies bundled on their backs — their backdrop, their strength, and their devotion to craft and community moved me to my core.

I knew then that I wanted to share that feeling with others.

In the midst of all the beauty and resilience, I also happened to be reading Clarissa Pinkola Estés’ Women Who Run with the Wolves: Myths and Stories of the Wild Woman Archetype. Clarissa’s words cracked me wide open. They became a mirror — a call to return home (to myself), to remember my true nature, my intuition…my wild.

From the intersection of that book, my inner yearnings, the Guatemalan land and its people, WILDHOM was born.

THE SPIRIT BEHIND WILDHOM

A home and lifestyle brand created not from ambition, but from alignment. A company born out of a deep love for home, for our planet, and for humanity and our well-being. It’s a way of living that invites us to slow down and breathe deeply — to reconnect with who and what truly matter, and to fill our homes and lives with beauty, calm, joy, and intention.

Every piece we create is guided by care. Made from truly organic, non-toxic, environmentally gentle materials, each piece is a small act of reverence — for the Women Artisans who weave them, for our planet that provides for us, and for the individuals who bring them into their homes. Each design carries the spirit of Guatemala, the lessons of stillness, and the belief that true luxury is living in harmony with nature, with community, and with oneself.

WILDHOM reminds us that beauty can be honest. That luxury can be kind. That the most meaningful life isn’t about constantly doing, but about being still — with ourselves and our cherished loved ones.

AN INVITATION INTO WILDHOM

I lead WILDHOM not as a CEO in the traditional sense, but as a steward — of creativity, sustainability, equality, and connection.

I didn’t choose WILDHOM. WILDHOM chose me.

It asked me to live and lead differently — to create from love, to honor the Earth, the wild unknown, and the quiet places within.

And I said yes.

So welcome hom. I look forward to communing with you.

With Love & Intention,
The WILDHOM Founder
